SMPC Solutions Implements the Technology Innovation Support Programme(RBIDZ) for the SMME’s operating in the King Cetshwayo District
SMPC Solutions was the Implementing partner of the Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone (RBIDZ) for the Technology Innovation Support Programme (TISP). Funded by the KZN Department of Economic Development, Tourism, and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA), TISP was aimed at supporting ICT sector innovations, enhance the introduction of ICT enabled solutions in key investment sectors, and anchor intellectual property. The programme was aimed at entrepreneurs and innovators with technology-driven ideas that encourage local production and manufacturing.
When passion meets innovation
The programme provided support to 20 innovators from the King Cetwayo District, KZN with technology commercialisation, technical assistance, and support for developing (enhancing) a new product or processes. TISP supported innovators with advisory and mentorship services as part of venture acceleration, training on market development failures that restrict the commercialisation of innovations and partnered with institutions on product testing and piloting.
The criteria were that innovative ideas and proposals seeking support should be of technological orientation, and or lead to further digitisation (innovation) across Agricultural Technology, Manufacturing, Metal Beneficiation, Marine Industry Development and Renewable Energy among others. TISP has provided these innovators with the skills and knowledge to take their innovations to the next level. By bridging the gap between concept and commercialisation, TISP has successfully fostered a culture of innovation, leaving a legacy in the King Cetshwayo District.
