Project Name: PMU Establishment for uMfolozi TVET College

Project description: Support the alignment process of the university strategy, which includes facilitation of Annual Institutional Management Lekgotlas attended by the University Executive Management, Executive Deans and Senior Directors.  Facilitation of Strategy workshops for the University directorates and faculties respectively.  Facilitation of the development of Action Plans for the Identified Focus Areas and provision of requisite tools and templates. Writing of reports that include the key outcomes on targets against the strategic priorities of WSU

Project description – Establishment of a Project Management Unit within the uMfolozi TVET College environment that is responsible for the implementation of all Artisan development projects, Occupational programmes, Learnerships and Skills programmes respectively. The scope included conducting a project maturity assessment of the project’s unit, designing new Business and Operating Models for the PMU, a Financial Model, and an Organisational Structure. 

Key Deliverables:  Submission of reports and plans to the office of the WSU Vice-Chancellor / Executive Management after every workshop convened.

Outcomes: All Faculties and directorates have Implementation plans that are fully aligned to the University vision and academic strategy respectively. All planning and reporting templates within the university were developed and standardised.

Impact: There is alignment in implementation of priorities within the university and there is efficient tracking of strategy implementation. Reporting at all levels against the strategy is more efficient and clearer for the university leadership
